Theme for 2026/2027: “Building on Public Health Legacy, Redefining Community Empowerment”
It is an honour and a privilege to serve as President of the College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka as we inaugurate our Centenary Year on 26 November 2026. As we prepare to mark a century of public service in 2027, we recognise the dedication of our Past Presidents, Fellows and members who have built and sustained the College. Their contribution provides a strong foundation for our work in the year ahead.
The theme for my presidency, “Building on Public Health Legacy, Redefining Community Empowerment,” connects this heritage with our aspirations for the future. Improving health requires strong health services alongside communities with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to influence decisions that affect their lives. We will promote meaningful community participation in identifying health priorities, shaping responses and leading action.
Our Centenary Year will extend until 25 November 2027, bringing together activities that honour our history and advance our public health responsibilities. Through the CCPSL Heritage Digital Archive, we will preserve and share the experiences and achievements of earlier generations. We will also strengthen research, education and professional development, support young Community Physicians and trainees, and develop partnerships that translate evidence into practical benefits for communities.
I look forward to working with our members, communities, other professional colleges, public institutions and local and international partners to carry these efforts forward. This website offers an opportunity to explore our heritage, learn about our work and contribute to our initiatives. I warmly invite you to join us in making the centenary a lasting contribution to the health and wellbeing of the people of Sri Lanka.
